Tex has been a pinstriper & custom painter for over 30 years, as well as a sign company owner (McDorman Signs and Advertising). Back in 2009 he started doing live event emcee work. Announcing for monster truck events, as well as arena cross racing, some drag racing, and several Veterans charity events including the Chris Kyle Memorial Benefit.
Originally from Brownwood Texas, Tex graduated high school in 1982 and enlisted in the US Navy. He married his high school sweetheart that same year and was stationed in Virginia Beach, Va.
Tex and Melissa have been married since 1982 and have 2 wonderful children, Blythe & Critter. After 10 years of serving in the US Navy, it was time to open up Tex’s Sign Shop in Chesapeake, Va. This made it possible for more family time and grow the business to what it is today. Tex became more involved in the motorcycle industry and that became the majority of the business, this is how what is now known as TexEfx came to life. Melissa ran the sign part of the business giving Tex time to build and grow the paint part of the business. During this time Tex also spent a few years working on the pit crew of a Nascar team owned by Joe Falk #91 (what an experience!) and is still involved to this day on the Faulk/ Childress # 40 team.
In 2002 Tex, Melissa and the family moved back to their home state of Texas. It’s now McDorman Signs & Advertising / TexEfx Pinstriping & Custom Paint located in Sanger Texas, just north of the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex in north Texas. Much closer to all of their family and centrally located for travels to shows and events.
In recent years they have been blessed with the joy of being grandparents, Rayden (Chopper) born in 2007, Maverick (Nubby) born in 2010 and Maycie (Blaze) born in March 2015.
Critter works for the family business and bounces back and forth between the signs and customizing. He carries the gene of passion for motorcycles, hot rods, trucks etc. He enjoys traveling to the bike events and is an important part of the Pinstripie America Tour.
Tex has also been an announcer for Monster Jam, he was on the 30th Anniversary Grave Digger Tour, he won “Rookie of the year 2011″ and ” Beyond the Dirt ” award in 2012 . Tex continues to announce several monster truck events across the US and is passionate about being a voice for our Veterans. He looks forward to meeting new people and trying new things, so let’s bring on the fun.
Tex’s motto is – “Just living the dream!”
Hope to see you out there!
